Single player tells you that a game does not require another person to begin. It does not tell you whether the task is timed, turn-based, resumable or built around a computer opponent.
A scene to inspect or symbols to remember
The Curiosity Cabinet asks you to find listed objects in illustrated rooms. Lumen Pairs asks you to remember matching symbols after cards turn face down again. Compare a visible scene search with the memory of information that is temporarily hidden.

A sequence with a known destination
Fifteen slides tiles into numbered order by moving them into the adjacent gap. Tower of Hanoi moves a stack between pegs without putting a larger disk on a smaller one. Both give you a clear target, but they constrain movement differently.
