About the game

A browser adaptation by Zarocer.

Play a classic Backgammon game against a computer opponent at three settings or another person on the same device. The build enforces bar entry, blocked points, hits, mandatory dice use, doubles and bearing off. Wins score as single, gammon or backgammon. This is a single game ruleset without a doubling cube or match series.

Controls

Click or tap a checker and a highlighted destination. On narrow screens use the large source and destination buttons; R rolls, U undoes, H hints and Enter confirms.

Re-enter from the bar before moving other checkers

A point occupied by two or more opposing checkers is blocked. A single opposing checker can be hit and sent to the bar. If you have a checker on the bar, you must bring it back with a legal die before moving a checker elsewhere.

The interface follows complete legal dice sequences. Use both dice when possible; if only one of two different dice can be used, the larger usable die is required. That can make an apparently available individual move invalid as the start of your turn. Doubles supply four moves of the rolled number.

Finish the home board before bearing off

You can bear off only when every remaining checker is in your home board and none is on the bar. An exact die removes its matching checker. A larger die can remove a nearer checker only when no checker remains farther from the exit; use the highlighted destinations to check that condition.

Leaving an exposed checker can give your opponent a hit and delay your return home. Compare the immediate gain in distance with whether you can make a protected point instead. This distribution scores single wins, gammons and backgammons without a doubling cube or match series.

How to play

Choose a computer opponent or local two-player mode. Roll the dice, select a checker and then a legal destination. If you have checkers on the bar, re-enter them before moving others. Bring all your checkers home and bear them off before your opponent.

Modes and local progress

ZAROCER opens this build in English. Progress and records stay in this browser when storage is available. Use native continuation controls after reloading. Clearing site data can remove saves. Pause, Theater and Fullscreen preserve one game instance.
