About the game
A browser adaptation by Zarocer.
Classic two-player Canasta with a computer opponent and running scores up to 5,000 points.
Controls
Draw from the stock or take the discard pile at the start of a turn. Select cards and use Meld or Discard.
Meet the opening requirement before melding
A new meld needs at least three cards and at least two natural cards of the same rank. Twos and jokers are wild. A meld cannot contain more wilds than naturals, and this build caps wilds at three in a meld.
The opening minimum depends on your accumulated score: fifteen points below zero, fifty below 1,500, ninety below 3,000 and one hundred twenty from 3,000 upward. A group can match ranks correctly yet still fail the opening point requirement. Check the minimum before committing a planned first meld.
Plan the discard pile and the finish
Taking the discard pile is not an unrestricted draw. The available pickup depends on its top card, the frozen state and your natural matching cards. Keep natural pairs useful for opening the pile rather than treating every wild as an interchangeable solution.
A canasta has at least seven cards. This two-player edition requires two canastas before going out. Natural canastas score five hundred bonus points, while those containing wilds score three hundred. Cards remaining in your hand are deducted, so collecting a large pile has both an opportunity and a cost.
How to play
Draw two cards or take the discard pile. Meld cards of the same rank, complete two seven-card canastas, then discard to end your turn.
